Collaborators with Dr. G.C. Boynton
Here are a few links to some people I've worked with and the departments
they are at.
People
- Manuel Huerta: His
publications and interests are too numerous to mention here, but Manuel
and I have published work in electromagnetic rail launcher (EMRL)
physics, particularly the results of 2 dimensional time dependent
magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations of the accelerating plasma
armature. We numerically
solved the full system of nonlinear partial differential equations
including locally dependent Spitzer resistivity, ionization fractions
via the Saha Equation, and transport of energy via radiative diffusion
using the Rosseland mean free path approximation. For the
hyperbolic system of equations we used a flux
conservative method known as flux corrected transport (FCT) developed
by J. Boris et. al. at NRL which is well know for its accuracy in
simulating features with strong gradients, including shocks.
- Ulf Torkelson
- Stefaan
Poedts is now with the Center for Plasma Astrophysics at KULeuven
(Catholic University Leuven) in Belgium. He does very good numerical
work in MHD, both in linear stability and nonlinear effects.
- Kostas Tziotziou,
a fantastic Greek who does interesting stellar wind/corona calculations.
