2nd International Workshop on Transition Edge Sensor Device Physics March 18 – 19, 2004

The University of Miami Department of Physics, in collaboration with the College of Arts and Sciences, is organizing a workshop on the physics of TES devices for applications ranging from the Sub-mm to X-ray wavelength band.  The topics addressed at the workshop include:
 

• Physics of superconducting to normal phase transitions
• Physics of noise in transition edge thermometers
• Physics of thermalization in absorbers and thermometers
• Physics of the heat transport to the bath, i.e. phonon transport in SiN membranes, Kapitza boundaries, e-ph coupling in the TES and phonon transport in the Si support structure.
• Production aspects related to device physics
• SQUID electronics

The workshop will consist of oral presentations and a small poster session. Posters are encouraged from students and in support of oral presentations.
Abstracts for contributed papers are due by February 15, 2004 and should be sent via e-mail to tes@physics.miami.edu
